About the Band
In its 158th year, the Westerly Band continues to provide southern New England with a variety of popular, classical, and ethnic music and, of course, marches. Being both a concert wind ensemble and a marching band, the Westerly Band plays more than 20 "gigs" a year, and with its library of over 1000 pieces, it provides a different program for every performance. Westerly Band 2014
It is with fond affection and sincere gratitude that we remember William Thorp. His passing September 26, 2012 is a deep loss to the Westerly Band, where he has been a dedicated trumpeter and leader for over 80 years. Thank you, Bill, for all you have done for us! We miss you! We offer our deepest sympathy to the Thorp family.
The band rehearses at the Armory in Westerly, Rhode Island, on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. You're welcome to stop by and listen. Or, better yet, grab your instrument, join the Westerly Band, and have fun making music! Contact us if you want more information, or would like to comment on the band or our website
